Mixing Prints in Venice

Hello all! Friday morning, I just knew that I wanted to be casual and wear sneakers. It's been hot out here in L.A. (can't wait for fall like temps), so I was dead set on wearing a dress too. I put on this striped dress and sneakers, and felt like it was missing something. I added the plaid shirt and the belt and voila... a Cali casual Friday outfit fit for the streets of Venice.

 There are a lot of artsy walls in Venice, CA.

On The Cusp of Autumn

Many people look at the calendar and anxiously anticipate the first day of Autumn. I don't blame them, it's my favorite season of them all because you can break out those boots and layer on the clothes. But, Father Time and Mother Nature don't always seem to be in accord. It may officially be Autumn, but the weather sure doesn't seem like it. Just because it's a new season doesn't mean you should revamp your whole closet.

Trends do change season to season, however, there are trends and colors that transcend any season. A black and white palette fits any season. In this post, I am wearing some trends that I think are wearable all year round: lace, pleats, tuxedo pants and a sexy statement shoe. 

*On another note, this is my first post with my slightly shorter new bob cut. I welcome your thoughts on the post and the new do.

Summer Black Sheer Plaid & a Pop of Fuchsia

Sometimes black is the last color you think to wear when it's hot. But why?? Black on black clothing in the summer time is not a crime! It's a good time to get savvy with fabrics; wear black in sheer, mesh and chiffon.  This top from Forever 21 is the perfect black summer top. I love that it's sheer and has a combination of two prints. I added fuchsia pumps to this outfit for a pop of color. So tell me, how are you wearing black this summer?

Sneakers at Work

Gone are the days when sneakers were thought to be a fashion faux pas in the office. I mean, you really only saw people in sneakers for orthopedic reasons or when it was Casual Fridays. The slip-on sneaker has changed everything. These trend setting sneakers effortlessly combine comfort and style so well, it's no wonder that they have made an appearance inside the doors of the corporate world without violating any dress codes.

Distressed Bloom

Happy Friday everyone! The end of summer is near, and Labor Day is around the corner. Perfect time for summer whites and brights. I wore this watercolor floral chiffon blouse with white distressed jeans and red heels from ZARA. I love these heels, the color and the wrap around style are fun and sexy at the same time. They make a great summer statement shoe. Anyways, I hope you all have a great Labor Day weekend, and be safe!

Lavender, Dots & Pearls

It may have said a barbecue on paper, but I turned it into a barbecute. Instead of wearing blue jeans to a BBQ, I chose to wear these lavender jeans with a polka dot print. I accessorized the look with 360 pearl studs from Go Jane (only $5.50!), and my lavender Kate Spade purse with its scalloped edges adds a cute, feminine touch to the outfit.  

FYI, my heels did not slow me down, I kicked butt in most of the games. So tell me, what do you like to wear to a BBQ?

Funky Tartan

Hello all! I'm finding it hard to wear a traditional corporate outfit to work while in these hot temps, so I paired this black and white tartan midi skirt with this sheer sleeveless top. The pop of green and the clutch add a funky summer feel to this look. This is a look that "The Man" and your wallet would approve of, especially since the skirt is only $15.80!!
